Purpose: To evaluate and compare the Aberration profile in eyes implanted with Hoya MICS (H) and Acrysof IQ (IQ) IOL.
Methods: Eyes undergone cataract surgery with either Hoya (H) or Acrysof IQ (IQ) aspheric IOL were selected. Higher order aberration (HOA) in undilated (2mm) and dilated (3.5mm) pupil sizes were measured using HOYA i-Trace.
Results: 22 eyes were implanted with H- and IQ- IOLs each. For 2mm pupil, no significant differences in higher order aberrations were noted with H- and IQ-IOL. For 3.5mm pupil, median total HOA (IQR) was 0.22 (0.11, 0.32) and 0.16 (0.12, 0.26) for H- and IQ-IOL respectively, (p=0.76). Median internal HOA (IQR) was 0.19 (0.09, 0.36) and 0.13 (0.09, 0.22), p=0.59 with H- and IQ-IOL. Median internal spherical aberration (IQR) was -0.014 (-0.047, -0.001) and -0.038 (-0.049, -0.022), p=0.17 in H- and IQ-IOL.
Conclusions: There was not much difference in the higher order aberrations between Hoya MICS IOL and Acrysof IQ IOL groups.
