PURPOSE: To study longterm clinical outcomes of simple limbal epithelial cell transplantation in varied indicated cases of LSCD relatively new technique.
METHODS:Retrospective interventional case series was performed.18 patients of different ages were underwent for SLET with AMT for LSCD due to causes like severe vernal keratoconjunctivitis,chemical/thermal injury, pterygium excision, steven’s johnson syndrome or idiopathic, had a minimum follow-up of 6 monthsThe outcome as Vision & complete success(completely epithelialised, avascular corneal surface),partial success(focal recurrence of symblepharon not involving visual axis)or failure(unstable ocular surface with persistent epithelial defects/symblepharon recurrence involving visual axis)
RESULTS:Pre-SLET visual acuities were hand movement & perception of light in all patients.Post-SLET visual acuities were counting fingers close to face (3),6/60(5),6/36(5) & 6/18(5)at final follow-up.In 6 patients there were complete success,8 with partial success, 4 patients with failure.
