FP1746 : Rare Cases of Pigmented Fungal Corneal Ulcer

Purpose- To report rare cases of pigmented fungal corneal ulcer.We report rare pigmented fungal corneal ulcer. Patients presented with history of injury and instillations of topical corticosteroid. Symptoms was pain, redness, photophobia, foreign body sensation and diminission of vision present in all patients. All cases were examine by biomicroscopic for clinical assessment of ulcer (ulcer showed dry feathery and outer rolled out margin with yellowish and brown plaque). Hypopyon & Fibrin membrane present in one case.Microscopically it revealed fungal elements on 10% KOH mount. After culturing on Sabourd Dextrose Agar two cases revealed pigmented fungal hyphae. The pigmented fungi was identified by morphology by Lacto Phenol Cotton Blue mount & Slide Culture using Corn Meal Agar. The typical morphology revealed septate mycelium, curved branched conidiophores, septate conidiaidentified as Curvularia lunata. In one case the pigmented fungus grown could not be identified.Management- Tablet itraconazole, topical eye drop voricona
