Methods : Total 502 cases were included who were presented from May 2015 to April 2016 in Department of Ophthalmology for medico legal opinion. These were grouped according to age, sex, mode, total loss of vision or percentage of vision lost.
Results: Out of 502 , only 66 were female (13.14%) and remaining (86.85 %) were male. The age group most commonly involved was 21- 40 years. Most common mode of injury was assault (51.19%) followed by road traffic accident (46.21%). Globe rupture in 0.02%, fracture of walls of orbit in 10.75%, lid tears in 30.27% and rest were soft tissue injuries.Out of 15 globe rupture, 9 were without perception of light at presentation.
Conclusion:The result of the study showed that the injuries occurred in actively working group and students. It is very important to treat promptly and preferably within 24 hours to prevent permanent invalidity caused by reduced visual function or blindness of the injured eye. Record keeping must be accurate, perfect and safe
