FP1542 : An Interesting Case of Intraocular ‘Eyelash’ Foreign Body (Iofb) in a Traumatic Eye Injury

INTRODUCTION – A 40 year old male presenting to a tertiary care OPD with a 4 day’s history of sharp bamboo stick injury to the left eye,with severe pain ,photophobia with a Visual acuity of Finger counting at 2meter.

MATERIALS AND METHODS – A case of 4 day old alleged bamboo stick injury to left eye presenting to OPD with severe pain,redness,photophobia and dimness of vision.
Thorough Slit lamp examination was done to assess the extent of injury using the BETT criteria.Routine blood investigation ,Bscan USG (both eye)and Radiological imaging were done .

CONCLUSION-On slit lamp examination, two eye lashes (cilium) were seen impacted to iris at 8 o’clock position and subsequently removed in the Operating Room. Eyelash as an IOFB is rare and very few cases has been reported .Reaction to intra ocular cilia has been varied from no inflammation to severe uveitic reaction has been reported in literature.
