PURPOSE : To evaluate the pattern of tissue involvement in periocular dog bite injuries.

METHODS : In this retrospective case series, the records of 4 patients referred to the oculoplastics service at this centre with a dog bite injury past one year were reviewed on a standard preformed format.Variables assessed included Canalicular involvement, age, sex, associated injuries, and surgical repair.RESULTS:There were 4 male patients with 2 having OD & 2 have OS involvement. (Age group 6 to 52 years) Canalicular injuries were present in 3 patients (75%). 2 injuries (50%) involved only the lower lid with lower canaliculi, one (25%) only the inferior canaliculus.,only one has lid involvement with canalicular involvement.3 (75%) patients underwent lid repair with intubation for canalicular involvement.None of the patient has deeper ocular involvement. CONCLUSIONS:Periocular dog bites have a propensity for involvement of the lacrimal canaliculi. Early repair is the key to success.
