FP1032 : Pattern of Endophthalmitis : 6 Year Retrospective Study in A Northeast Indian Tertiary Eye Hospital

Records of patients reporting with suspected endophthalmitis were studied over a period of 6 years(2010-2015).The clinical profile , microbial spectrum , modes of intervention and outcomes in all culture positivecases were evaluated. Dimunition of vision (82.6%) was the most common symptom and hypopyon(58.6%), most common sign.Main organism to be involved in fulminant and acute cases was found to be
Pseudomonas.

In delayed cases, Gram positive bacteria and fungi were the main culprit. Most cases weremanaged with vitrectomies and intravitreal antibiotics(46.6% cases).Despite proper treatment andaggressive use of antibiotics visual outcome after endophthalmitis was generally poor.
