AIM :To use Digital Image Processing(DIP)for early diagnosis of macular hole& glaucoma.

METHOD: Total 172 fundus images(50 controls,45 macular hole &77 glaucoma, at different stages)were taken using a TOPCON non-mydriatic retinal camera.Using the pre-processing algorithms &feature extraction algorithms of DIP,cup & disc boundaries are obtained &cup-to-disk ratio is estimated. Increased cup-disc ratio over a threshold value,is diagnosed as glaucoma. The color pigments present in
the macular region and the steep color variations in the boundary regions were estimated to detect the feature of a macular hole.

RESULTS:The proposed methods achieved 98.3% accuracy in the detection of glaucoma and 95.8% accuracy in the detection of macular hole.

CONCLUSION:Fundus images can be used for early diagnosis in macular hole & glaucoma. It is helpful during mass screening in analyzing the huge number of samples in short time.
