This instruction course shall focus on the dificult situations that a surgeon may be faced with while performing phacoemulsification, with discussion of methods to optimize surgical outcomes in the same. Management of capsulorhexis related complications will be discussed as well as the management of small, non-dilating pupil. Techniques to minimize further damage in patients with compromised ocular surface and corneal endothelial status shall be highlighted. Ways and means to tackle hard cataract, intumescent white cataract and posterior polar cataract shall be described. Appropriate surgical videos along with case-based discussions will be used
to highlight surgical principles and tips in situations such as pseudoexfoliation syndrome, lenticular subluxation and post-refractive surgery cataract. The advantages and disadvantages of femtosecond laser assisted laser cataract surgery will also be highlighted in these difficult situations.
