IC142 – TRAUMATIC EYELID AND ADNEXAL DEFORMITIES

Dr. Ashok Kumar Grover [G02758] – New Delhi

Sequelae of eyelid and adnexal trauma result from inadequate or delayed primary repair and have devastating consequences. The effects may be vision threatening or aesthetic. Sequelae include eyelid notching, entropion, ectropion, ptosis, epicanthus, canthal malformations like telecanthus and displacements, eyelid defects, eyebrow deformities, enophthalmos, hypo-ophthalmos and unsightly scars. Management entails multidisciplinary approach, working with radiologists, plastic surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons and neurosurgeons. The repair includes multistage procedures involving bony reconstructions and bone grafts, microplating, stainless steel wiring and other surgical techniques that require thorough understanding of basic
principles and innovative approaches. These will be discussed with photographic illustrations and surgical videos. Audience interaction will help enhance understanding of the complexities of repair
