Purpose:- To describe a new method of anterior capsulorhexis in intumescent cataracts.

Method:- A series of patients with intumescent cataracts who underwent anterior capsulorhexis using the aspiration cannula. The aspiration cannula was first used to aspirate the cortical fluid and then used to hold the leading edge of rhexis and thereby preventing extension. Results:- Rhexis was completed uneventfully in all the cases of intumescent cataract.

Conclusion:- We recommend the use of the aspiration cannula as a new method of capsulorhexis in intumescent cataracts.
