Cataract surgery has become more of a refractive surgery with extremely high technical as well as visual expectations from both surgeons and patients. With the advent of aberration correcting IOLS, measurement of ocular aberration by Wavefront aberrometry has gained importance in selection of appropriate IOL referred to as customized cataract surgery. Thus in this video we will describe the role of i-Trace aberrometer in pre and post operative evaluation of cataract patients. i-Trace aberrometer, using the principle of ray tracing with corneal topography gives total eye aberrations (corneal + internal [lens]),refractive error for eye, optical quality metrics(MTF,PSF).In Pre- operative evaluation it gives expected mesopic pupil size, angle alpha & kappa which help in planning for premium IOL’s.It also assesses the ocular astigmatism. It helps in lens selection ,axis placement and surgical incision location in toric iol.
