VT242 – Tube extender surgery in AADI: union made in heaven!

Dr.Vanita Pathak Ray, Dr.Sanket Deshmukh

Presented here is a case of a 20-year-old male with history of Vernal Keratoconjunctivitis and secondary steroid induced glaucoma. A supero-temporal trabeculectomy with mitomycin C failed as tremendous scarring occurred. He underwent an infero-temporal Aurolab Aqueous Drainage Implant (AADI), which controlled the IOP for a while, until the tube retracted and got impacted within the cornea with fibrosis and localized scarring. He underwent Tube extender surgery (an accessory of the Ahmed Glaucoma Valve system) and the union, of two unrelated systems, appeared to be made in heaven as we achieved a perfect fit with control of post-op IOP without medication.
