We show two back to back videos depicting variance in subretinal cysticercus removal. The first occurred in the 20G era, in a 20 year old girl with a live subfoveal cysticercus cyst, underwent a vitrectomy followed by a small temporal retinotomy to form a localised detachment and has a textbook in toto cysticercus cyst removal. 8 years hence the second case was done with a 25 gauge vitrectomy system in a 32 year old male with a live subfoveal cyst with a fibrosed capsule who underwent a similar procedure but resulted in a surprising explosive delivery of the cyst.
