Aim: To evaluate central corneal thickness &endothelial cell density in various stages of diabetic retinopathy
Materials and methods : 50 patients those were diagnosed as diabetic retinopathy are grouped into 5stages of retinopathy as 1) No DR 2) MILD NPDR 3) MODERATE NPDR 4)SEVERE NPDR 5)PDR and central corneal thickness and endothelial cell density is measured using specular microscopy and these 50 patients are compared with a control group consisting of 50 patients who were non diabetic . This data is documented and statistically analysed
Results : There was no significant variation in the central corneal thickness but decrease in the endothelial cell density was observed in various stages of diabetic retinopathy and it is the same when compared with non diabetic controls
