Dr.Anita Panda, P02209, Dr. Sasikala Nindra Krishna

Background Patch graft to cover sclerocorneal defect is known
Purpose : We report a series of scleral melting after pterygium surgery with their management .

Materials and method: Twenty four eyes with post pterygium surgery scleral melting were subjected to sclero corneal patch graft.

Results: Pre operatively scleral melt and epithelial defect were seen in all and infection in two. Recurrence of melting/on leading to severe graft necrosis in 3, two managed successfully and one eye was lost.

Conclusion :This case series, the largest in world literature, revealed corneo scleral patch graft is a suitable approach to preserve globe integrity in severe scleral melting after pterygium surgery.
