FP1418 : Cortical Blindness – A Case Report

A 54 years male, known hypertensive, non-diabetic, non-smoker presented with sudden onset painless loss of vision in both eyes for 7 days duration. His visual acuity was no PL in both eyes. Pupillary reactions were normal and dilated fundus examinations with IDO of both eyes were normal. His blood pressure was 200/110.Neurological examination was nothing significant. Ocular malingering was excluded by appropriate tests. CT scan brain showed- acute infarct in right occipital lobe and chronic infarct with leucomalacia in left occipital lobe. With the clinical findings and investigation diagnosis of cortical blindness was made. Due to it’s rare incidence, this case is taken for presentation.
