FP1536 : Rare Case of Isolated Bilateral Optic Nerve Sheath Meningioma (Onsm)

Dr. Sirisha Polkampally, Dr. Usha R

Optic Nerve Sheath Meningiomas account for less than 1% of all meningiomas out of which only 5% are bilateral. A 37 year old male presented to us with gradual painless loss of vision in right eye since 15 years. Ophthalmological examination revealed no perception of light in right eye with RAPD and optic atrophy, 6/6 vision and gross diffuse pallor of disc in left eye. MRI brain with orbits both plain and contrast showed enhanced calcified lesion in both optic nerve sheath complex with widening of perioptic subarachnoid space suggestive of bilateral optic nerve sheath meningioma. No evidence of systemic features of Neurofibromatosis 2 were found. Incisional biopsy from right eye was taken and histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of meningioma. This case is being presented for its rarity.
