FP1580 : Amniotic Membrane Transplantation with Bandage Contact Lens in Alkali Injury to Cornea

A 55 years male presented with history of lime injury to left eye 3 months back.Complaints of gross diminution of vision,pain,watering since then.No improvement of signs and symptoms on medications.Left eye BCVA 1/60 with diffuse epithelial and anterior stromal odema with peripheral corneal vascularization(superficial and deep),punched out corneal epithelial defect,active superior pannus with secondary glaucoma.360° peritomy with Corneal epithelial debridement and removal of subepithelial fibrosis done.Onlay Amniotic membrane graft covering whole of corneal surface and surrounding 4 mm,sutured with 10-0 vicryl suture.Bandage contact lens implanted.topical antibiotics,lubricating and anti-glaucoma medications given.On follow-up,Visual acuity improved to 6/60 with improvement in corneal transparency.No revascularization of cornea.In conclusion,360° peritomy,On-lay Amniotic membrane transplantation with bandage contact lens restores corneal surface integrity in alkali injury to cornea.
