Dr. Anu F Anand, Dr. David Pudukadan, Dr. Anthrayos C V Kakkanatt, Ms. Minu Sasikumar, Dr. Geoffrey Joju

Methods : Lid lacerations post repair were evaluated for alteration of MRD 1 and 2 at presentation, following repair at 1 week, 1 month and 3 month intervals. Lacerations were classified into type 1 type 2 and type 3 based on the extend of lid involvement.

Results : Statistically significant differences between the two eyes is seen in MRD 1 only in the 2nd visit in typeI and type 3 laceration. MRD2 measurement is very significant in type2 laceration between the 1st and 4th visit.MRD1 and MRD2 showed no significant difference between the involved and the non involved eye at the termination of the study. The study parameters at the 4 th visit were compared between the involved eye , MRD 1showed difference which is of moderate significance.

Conclusion : There is impairment of function and cosmetic outcome during the initial post op period which improved with time. MRD is useful indicator of improvement of cosmetic and functional outcome.
