FP1800 : Sixth Cranial Nerve Palsy – Case Series

case 1- 55 years old female presented with chief complaints of decreased vision and inward deviation of left eye for 3 months. H/o Diabetes for 2 weeks.Vision RE-6/24, LE-HM+.
case 2- 36 yr old female presented with chief complaints of decreased vision and inward deviation of left eye for 2 weeks.H/o migraine x 2 years and she is on flunarizine 10 mg HS. Vision BE-6/6.
case 3- 14 yrs old male presented with H/o head injury 1 month back followed by deviation of the RE. Vision BE-6/6.
In all 3 patients Systemic examination and CNS except 6 th nerve normal. Involved eye abduction Restricted.Rest ocular examination, MRI normal. Treatment is conservative management for 6 months to 1 year with control of systemic diseases. In non recovering cases optical and surgical treatment recomended. For case 1 diabetes treatment, methylcobalamin 1500mcg alternate days 5 injections given. For case 2 & 3 oral steroids in tapering dose given. In all 3 cases 6 th nerve palsy improved within 3 months.
