Schwannomas account for 1% of orbital tumors & may arise anywhere within or adjacent to the orbit.Variable presentation & location of tumor can certainly make diagnosis difficult.
Aim : Reporting a rare case of unilateral orbital schwannoma arising from infraorbital region with its clinical presentation, radiographic & operative findings & histopathological features.
Method : 16-yr male child presented with pain & swelling in right eye since 10 months. On examination-solid,slowly growing mass in right inferior orbit with proptosis up&out.RE BCVA- 6/18.Fundus- disc edema & inferiorly globe pressed by tumor.CT scan-well-defined homogenous mass displacing eyeball upwards.A complete removal of the mass in the inferior orbit was performed through anterior orbitotomy incision & mass removed using cryo-probe.Diagnosis is confirmed by histopathology.
Result:Post-op,f’up 1yr,patient recovered uneventfully;has full ocular function,BCVA 6/9,reduced compression of globe & without recurrence till date.
