Burkholderia spp. is emerging opportunistic pathogen over past few decades. Burkholderia cepacia isolates are Gram-negative, oxidase- positive, non-fermentative bacilli. They can cause severe infection in immunocompromised patients and in healthy individuals as well. Ocular infections including keratitis and endophthalmitis is reported in few studies. We hereby present a case of 40 year old male with lid abscess caused by Burkholderia cepacia. Patient presented with fever and nasal vestibulitis and subsequently developed lid abscess. His blood culture revealed Burkholderia cepacia. Incision and drainage of pus and culture sensitivity was done which isolated same organism and sensitive to meropenam. Patient recovered fully after IV meropenam. With best of our knowledge we believe it to be the first case of lid abcess in which Burkholderia cepacia is isolated .
