FP264 : Electronic Medical Record, A Useful Tool for Infection Control in Ophthalmic Setup

Objective : The study aimed to know importance of Electronic medical records in prevention of infection and strengthen the infection control protocols in ophthalmic setup

Methods : We have studied all information from our electronic medical records for past one year regarding infection. We have collected data through various registers form EMR (Electronic Medical Record), patient’s data from registration to final discharge and also from manually files of some of the infected patients. We have compared data of various eye surgeries and also from aspect of various age groups.

Result : We could track down 6 out of 9611 surgeries for surgical site infection (rate is 0.0006% )

Conclusion : EMR is playing vial part in reporting incidence in transparent manner, finding out route cause and effect of interventions.
