AIM: To compare results of trans PRK(t-PRK) or conventional PRK in myopia
DESIGN: Prospective, case–control study
METHODS: Study recruited 75eyes(24tPRK and 51PRK). Refractive results, predictability, safety and efficacy were evaluated during follow-up. The main outcome measures were mean refractive spherical equivalent (MRSE), uncorrected (UDVA) and corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA).
RESULTS: Mean preoperative and postoperative MRSE in tPRK and PRK groups was 2.10±2.06D; 0.31 ± 0.39Dand 3.23±2.22D; 0.19 ± 0.35D respectively. Postoperative UDVA was ≥20/20 in 74% and 72% of eyes respectively.
CONCLUSION: Both t-PRK and conventional PRK are predictable, effective and safe for correction of myopia.
