  • Pellucid Marginal Degeneration is a non inflammatory corneal condition typically characterized by bilateral ectasia in inferior & peripheral regions of cornea with regular astigmatism.
  • Various treatment options include RGP lenses ,PKP,C3R.
  • In such patients Cataract surgery is a challenging task.
  • A 67 yr old patient presented to us in May 2015 with reduced visual acuity. His UCDVA was :
  • RE-6/60 improving to 6/18P with PH
  • LE -1/60 improving to 6/36P with PH
  • Grade NS-III in Both eyes
  • Keratometry readings on Pentacam

  • The patient was planned for cataract surgery with toric IOL implantation.
  • The biometry readings were sent to the IOL manufacture for ULTRA HIGH Power Toric IOL.
  • Customized Smart toric IOL

RE IOL power +18.00D with 14.5DCyl

LE IOL power +21.50D with 15.0DCyl

  • TORIC Marking was done through OPAI Technique 

Surgical Method-

  • Micro- Incisional Cataract Surgery under Topical Anaesthesia.
  • Right Eye May 2015 at Rohit Eye Hospital.
  • Left Eye Oct 2015 at MPSOS Conference(Live Surgery) at Ujjain.

RESULTS-

RE- 6/6P (-0.75DCyl @160)

LE- 6/18P (-4.50DCyl @95)
