Dr. Y Chingsuingamba Meitei. Dr. Poulomi Das, Y09107

BACKGROUND:A non randomised interventional study was carried out in various retinal vascular diseases with significant macular edema who required intravitreal Anti-VEGF injection.

METHOD:40 patients with CRVO/HCRVO/BRVO/DME with significant macular edema was included in the study and minimum 1 and maximum 2 injections of anti-VEGFs were given.Evaluated for 1 yr with pre and post injection visual acuity on snellen’s chart and CMT on OCT.

RESULT:38 out of 40 shows significant improvement of vision by atleast 2 lines on Snellen’s chart and decreased CMT on OCT from 610 baseline to 378 within 2 months of injection. These findings are statistically significant.

CONCLUSION:AntiVEGF had marked improvement in visual acuity along with dramatic reduction in CMT in majority of patients with no serious ocular and systemic complications. But it needs multiple injections which are costly and not affordable by everyone.
