Dr. Siddharth Madan, S16243, Dr. Zia Chaudhuri

ABS, an uncommon but highly mutilating multisystem complex congenital anomaly occurs due to constriction bands entrapping fetal parts and may present with myriad, protean ophthalmic manifestations. We report two cases with ABS, one a 5-month female child with epiphora, telecanthus, syndactyly, clubfeet, craniosynostosis and amputated toes and the other, a 1-year male child with cleft lip, cleft palate, syndactyly, amputed fingers, toes and left sided microcornea, microphthalmos and typical iris and chorioretinal coloboma involving disc and macula. Both children were of normal mentation with normal neuroimaging. Sequential systemic management included repair for clubfeet in the 1st case and of the cleft lip and palate in the 2nd case. Skull remodeling surgeries and hand surgeries are sequentially planned. Ophthalmic management included lacrimal massage with plans for probing along with skull remodeling surgery in the 1st case and refractive correction with follow-up in both cases.
