FP6 : Orbital Mucormycosis – Treatment Module

Superior orbital fissure syndrome encountered, entity with an unique presentation and significant morbidity.
Case presentation:
A 45 years old lady, known case of diabetes millions (Poorly controlled ) presented with the history of fever since ten days, with history of pain in left half of face since one week, since the previous day patient has restriction of left ocular movement and loss of vision of the left eye.
MRI Brain showed sinonasal inflammatory disease with orbital cellulitis and cavernous sinus thrombosis with left temporal lobe cerebritis and fungal granuloma.
Patient was started with:
•Injections: Ciprofloxacin IV (bd)
Metronidazole IV (bd)
Cefatoxime IV (bd)
Ranitidine IV (bd)
Amphotecin’B’ IV (bd)
Dexamethasone 1mg/kg for 7 days followed by tapering of 0.5mg/kg.
