An elderly male presented with complaints of swelling of right upper eyelid for 4 months. Examination revealed a hard nodule in upper lid , mechanical ptosis and upper tarsal conjunctiva showed giant papillae. Upper lid incisional biopsy was done which on histopathological examination which showed Hyperplastic squamous epithelium,Subepithelial chronic inflammatory cell infiltration,Interspersed erectile blood vessels suggestive of Angiofibroma ,subsequently right eye upper lid mass excision and closure was done .Giant cell angiofibroma is one of differential diagnosis for chalazion of lid.
Discussion- Giant cell angiofibroma (GCA) is a distinctive orbital tumor in adults,most commonly occurs in ocular adnexae. GCA is characterized by relatively uniform, patternless, richly vascularized proliferation of spindle cells with occasional myxoid areas, angiectoid or pseudovascular areas, hyalinization of tumor blood vessels , multinucleated giant cells floret pattern and non invasive.
