Aim : To study outcomes of micro-incision vitrectomy surgery (MIVS) with C3F8 gas for RRD
Methods :Retrospective analysis of patients who underwent MIVS with 10% C3F8 for RRD over 2 years was done. All patients underwent ophthalmic evaluation including best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), lens status, area of detachment and break characteristics. Minimum follow up was 3 months postoperatively. Main outcome measures were success rates in pseudophakic and phakic groups.
Results :Data of 51 eyes of 51 patients (37 = male and 14 = female) with mean age being 52.78 years (range = 16 to 76 years) were analysed. LogMAR BCVA improved from a mean of 1.58 to 0.67 (p<0.05). Out of the total 51 patients, 46 had attached retina (success rate 90.19%). Success rate was 88.57% and 93.75% in the pseudophakic and phakic group respectively with no statistically significant intergroup difference (p=0.5).
Conclusion : Primary MIVS with C3F8 for RRD gives good functional outcome irrespective of the lens status.
