AIM:To study the indications, risk factors, postoperative course, visual outcome & corneal graft survival following OPK.
METHODS:30 eyes(28pts) underwent OPK between May-Oct2015.Few cases had combined procedures like anterior vitrectomy, lens extraction with Iol implantation,ACIOL explanation.Outcome assessed on the basis of improvement in visual acuity & graft survival & its correlation with corneal vascularisation, failed grafts, post traumatic corneal scars, donor quality & type of surgery.
RESULTS:66.6% had BCVA>3/60, 26.6% had BCVA 1/60 & 6.6% developed infection of graft. Graft survival was lower in poor prognosis cases(6months) than good prognosis cases(12months) & lower in vascularised corneas (4months) & secondary OPK done following primary TPK(3months). Patients with combined procedures had lower visual outcome.
CONCLUSION:Although patients had improvement in visual out come,high-risk cases, additional procedures, paucity of excellent donor corneas does have an effect on the outcome
