Aim: To study the association between VKC and parasitic intestinal worm infestation.
Methods and Materials: Case control study is being conducted from August 2015 to August 2016. Demographic and clinical data is collected in a data collection form. All children aged <14 years attending the eye department for the first time between this period are being screened, categorized and registered either as cases or controls. All the children are examined with a torch light and a slit-lamp. Both cases and controls are having their stools examined for intestinal parasites by a qualified microbiologist. Stool examination is classified as positive when parasites or ova are seen. The type of parasite is identified and noted.
Results and Observations: Results and observations will be derived only after completion of the study.
Conclusion: It is important to find out the risk factors associated with VKC and parasitic intestinal worms may find an association as a potential risk factor too.
