FP884 : Idebenone for Management of Lebers Hereditary Optic Neuropathy

A 20 year male a previously diagnosed case of Leber’s hereditary optic neuropathy presented with diminution of vision in both eyes of a duration of one month. Visual acuity was 6/60 OU with centrocaecal scotoma on automated perimetry. The patient also showed signs of red green colour deficiency of Ischiara chart testing The patient was started on idebenone 900 mg OD ( a neurotrophic drug) commonly used in alzeimer’s disease. On subsequent followups there was decrease in the size of centrocaecal scotoma and visual acuity improved to 6/9 OU at 9 months post intervention. This was accompanied by improvement in colour vision as evident on Ischiara chart testing
