Aim:To review management of patients with Descemet’s Membrane detachment(DMD)in tertiary care eye centre
Methods:Retrospective study including patients of DMD from April 2013 to Mar 2016. Records were reviewed for detailed history, examination, investigations & management. Diagnosis confirmed by ASOCT & intraoperative localization by endoilluminator if needed.Treatment options included air injection, C3F8 gas injection or suture application with gas injection.Outcome included BCVA and Descemet’s membrane reattachment as seen on ASOCT.
Results:27patients with DMD of which 11(40.7%) were from same centre & rest 16(59.2%)referred. Air injection done in 13(48.1%) that had DMD of <3 clock hours & presented within 7days.11 patients with >3 clock hours of DMD or presenting at >7 days were injected with C3F8 gas. All patients with gas injection had IOP rise(27.53±6.4)mmHg. 3 required suturing but 2 ultimately reuired keratoplasty.
Conclusion:Proper & timely treatment restores vision in majority
