FP954 : A Study on Cases of Growth at and Around Limbus

Aim : To study the types of limbal and peri limbal growths.

Methods:150 cases attending eye outdoor at RIO during July2015 to March2016 with growth at &around limbus were studied. A detailed history, thorough general examination, complete ocular examination & in needed cases laboratory investigation & histopathological examinations were done.Cases were diagnosed clinically & by HPE in neoplasia suspected growths.

Observation:Of 150 cases M:F was 84:66. The cases mostly observed were pterygium(54),limbal type of VKC(30),phlyctenular conjunctivitis(23), pinguecula(18),episcleritis(13),neoplasia(11) and infective growth(1). Cornea was involved in 35 cases.30-40 yrs age group, males &those with constant exposure to UV rays were the most commonly affected.

Conclusion: There are varierty of growths affecting the limbus including neoplasias. Earlier & proper diagnosis & treatment can preserve the vision of the patient & can also prevent recurrences & metastatis of neoplasias.
