IC122 – PROBLEM BASED LEARNING IN KERATOCONUS MANAGEMENT

Dr. Rohit Shetty [S12145] – Bangalore

The modern management of keratoconus (KC) is challenging & confusing and fillled with controversies. Our aim is to propose a systematic approach in managing KC. In this course we will discuss optimal treatment choices, timing of therapy and surprises after any procedure. We have further simplied it to call it the ‘5 point nomogram’, since a decision-making nomogram that allows selection of the most suitable treatment for a particular grade of KC is unavailable. The 5-point nomogram includes 1. The demographic scoring of the patient 2. Contact lens tolerance 3. Management of progressive keratoconus 4. When everything else fails – advance keratoconus 5. Visual rehabilitation
