IC204 – BASIC VR TECHNIQUES IN RD SURGERY – DO THEM RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, EVERY TIME!

Dr. Pramod Sadashiorao Bhende [S04764] – Chennai

Basic techniques and options for vitreous surgery are often not as simple as they appear with even the so called mundane steps having the potential for complications that can lead to permanent vision loss. With ever changing technology and instrumentation coupled with more and more indications for pars plana vitrectomy,
it is a challenge both for the newly qualied surgeon to decide the best option and for the experienced surgeon to keep track of developments. Often in this race, the basic principles of RD surgery and the potential risks at every step are forgotten. This practical course will be conducted by VR surgeons who have grown parallel with
the technology and hence are ideally suited to provide a balanced outlook that will guide the new VR surgeon as well as help the more experienced ones to adapt to change.
