IC318 – PARADIGM SHIFT IN MANAGEMENT OF MICROBIAL KERATITIS

This course will highlight clinical and microbiologic work up of a case of corneal ulcer. It will elucidate when to use combination versus monotherapy in cases of bacterial corneal ulcers. The surgical technique of newer routes of treatment such as intracorneal and intracameral therapy for fungal keratitis with antifungal agents
such as voriconazole would be highlighted. Various manifestations of viral keratitis will be discussed and its management issues will be discussed. The various types of parasitic keratitis, investigational tools required to diagnose them and their management strategies will be elucidated. Surgical management of corneal ulcer
will be demonstrated in videos which would highlight the exact method of glue and amniotic membrane application, patch grafts, tenon’s graft and therapeutic deep anterior lamellar and penetrating keratoplasty. Case records of infectious keratitis will be shown and panel and audience participation will be done.
