Sebaceous gland carcinoma is a rare, potentially fatal malignant tumor of eyelid, with high rates of local recurrence, and regional and systemic metastasis. Reported rate of local tumor recurrence and systemic metastasis are as high as 36% and 28% respectively. It is relatively more common in Asia, comprising about 40-60% of all malignant eyelid tumors. It masquerades as many common inflammatory and benign eyelid lesions, often leading to misdiagnosis and thus inappropriate management and delayed presentation. It is essential to identify the telltale signs of this fatal eyelid malignancy for a practicing ophthalmologist. In this video we present to you the characteristic clinical features, spectrum of presentation and management of eyelid sebaceous gland carcinoma. Greater awareness about the clinical presentations of sebaceous gland carcinoma is essential among ophthalmologists for early diagnosis. Current treatment protocols in sebaceous gland carcinoma have improved life salvage in advanced cases.
