IC232 – DACRYOCYSTORHINOSTOMY (DCR): A CUP OF TE

Dr. Ravi Ranjan [R10385] – Rohtas (Bihar)

Dacryocystorhinostomy or DCR is one of the most common oculoplasty surgery performed. It is a bypassprocedure that creates an ansatomosis between lacrimal sac and nasal mucosa via bony osteum. It is performed through skin incision externally or intranasally with/ without endoscopic visualisation. This course is framed for all ophthalmologists who are willing to do DCR surgery but reluctant to do due to tedious flap making and failure rate. A methodical approach results in good outcome and minimal morbidity. We have made this course video and graphic assisted for better understanding. First topic will refresh anatomy and physiology. Proper case selection is must to avoid complication and to enhance confidence. Different techniques
of DCR are discussed. DCR simplified so that any general ophthalmologist can start it with basicinfrastructure and minimal instruments.Complications management and DCR in Special situations such as in paed.DCR,repeat DCR,will be discussed as a separate topic.
