IC187 – CONTROVERSIES IN THE MANAGEMENT OF ACUTE POSTERIOR SEGMENT TRAUMA

Pradeep Susvar [S12977] – Chennai

The course attempts to highlight the dilemmas and the difficulties in decision-making, faced by a surgeon in the unplanned setting of acute trauma involving the posterior segment. The circumstances of the presentation themselves not being ideal, the urgency of the surgery versus compromised facilities available at odd hours,
threat of infection, intraocular foreign body management, concerns regarding management of anterior segment injury and the extent of intervention planned- are often controversial and may not always provide the best possible outcome to the patient. Each topic explores the grey zones experienced in routine busy retina
