AIM : To analyse the refractive outcome after LASIK in different degrees of myopia
METHODS: Prospective clinical study of 110 eyes of different degrees of myopia were analysed and compared preoperative and postoperative uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), best spectacle corrected visual acuity (BSCVA) and the spherical equivalent in the period of 6 months.
RESULTS : Postoperatively74% ,88.4% ,91.3% of eyes establishing UCVA of 6/6 , 6/9 or better and 6/12 or better respectively at 6 month. 1.92% of eyes gained 1 line in BSCVA , 98.07% retained BSCVA and 0 % showed decline in BSCVA in all visits. . 89.42% of spherical equivalent is within or equal to ± 0.50 D at 6th month
CONCLUSIONS : Postoperative UCVA shows significant improvement from preoperative UCVA. All eyes had unchanged or showed improvement in BSCVA . Significant percentage of eyes were within or equal to ± 0.5 Diopter of spherical equivalentat 6 months. So LASIK is efficacious, safe procedure in all degrees of myopia.
