Purpose: To evaluate and compare Aberration profile in eyes implanted with Hoya MICS (H) and Tecnis (T) IOL.
Methods: Eyes undergone cataract surgery with either Hoya (H) or Tecnis (T) aspheric IOL were selected. Higher order aberration (HOA) in undilated (2mm) and dilated (3.5mm) pupil sizes were measured using HOYA i-Trace.
Results: 22 eyes were implanted with H- and T- IOLs each. For 2mm pupil, no significant differences in HOA were noted with T- and H-IOL. For 3.5mm pupil, median Total HOA (IQR) was 0.23 (0.12, 0.33) and 0.09 (0.08, 0.16) for H- and T-IOL respectively, (p<0.01). Median internal HOA (IQR) was 0.19 (0.10, 0.36) and 0.10 (0.07, 0.15), p=0.02 with H- and T-IOL. Median total coma (IQR) was 0.07 (0.05, 0.12) and 0.04 (0.03, 0.08), p=0.04 in H- and T-IOL. The total HOA were lower by -0.10 (95% CI -0.19, -0.01), p=0.04 after adjusting for undilated angle alpha.
Conclusions: A significant reduction in HOA after Tecnis IOL implantation was achieved as compared to HOYA IOL.
