A prospective clinical pilot study was carried out on 53 eyes of 51 patients undegoing phacoemulsification, with axial lengths ranging from 22 to >24.5 mm. The patients were divided into Group A (AL<22mm),Group B (AL 22-24.5mm) and Group C (AL>24.5mm).Calculation of the IOL power to be implanted was done by four available IOL power formulae;Haigis,SRK/T,SRK II, Hoffer Q.The post op target of refraction was analyzed. The differences in the mean absolute estimation error (AE) for the four formulae in each group was analysed.Mann-Whitney u test was used to compare diff. in the AEs of the formulae. Results–In group A,the least mean AE was shown for SRK II formula. In group B, the least mean AE was also shown for SRK II formula.Whereas,in group C the least mean AE was shown for SRK T formula. Conclusion– SRK II formula provides more predictive results concerning post op target of refraction in eyes with AL 22mm-24.5 mm.,whereas in eyes with AL >24.5 mm ,the SRK T formula is more predictive
