FP1646 : Ultrasound Biomicroscopic Evaluation of the Traumatized Eyes for Anterior Segment Pathology

Dr. Rajdeep Jain, Dr. Preeti Rawat, Dr. Manushree Gautam, Dr. Nikhila Chandra Jain

Purpose : Penetrating or blunt trauma can frequently result in anterior segment abnormalities that are difficult to assess owing to corneal opacity , inflammation , hemorrhage,or other disruption of intraocular tissue resulting in poor visualization.UBM can be helpful in assessing the anterior segment in these circumstances.

Materials and methods :A total of 30 eyes with a history of ocular trauma, which underwent an UBM examination & evaluated.
UBM preformed in closed globe before surgery and in open globe after primary repair(minimum after 1 Results
The most common UBM findings in a closed-globe injury were Angle recession,Hyphaema,Posterior capsule rent, zonular deficiency , and dislocated lens & in an open-globe injury were PAS,zonular deficiency, iridodialysis. UBM is particularly superior to other methods in the evaluation of the zonular status, posterior capsule rent, angle recession, cyclodialysis, and the detection of small superficial and intraocular foriegn body.
