Dr. Priyanka Mohanbabu Chaturvedi, C18214, Dr. Swati Tomar, Dr. Dipa Patel

Purpose:Toasses, compare corneal clarity quantitatively by cornealdensitometry measurement in keratoconuspatientsandnormalcontrolsubjects.

Methods:Keratoconic,normalcorneasexaminedbyScheimpflugcornealtopography(Pentacam®HR).Cornealdensitometrymeasured12mmdiameterarea,dividedbyannulaconcentriczones,depths.

Results:Enrolled 1eye randomly from each of 50with normalcorneasN,50 patients with bilateralkeratoconusKC.Significant differences between groups for densitometryin2annuli:central2.0mmdiameterN=16.78±2.25,KC=2I.77±7.3,P =0.0028,annulus2.0-6.0 mmdiameterN=15.45±1.99,KC=17.38±4.24,P=0.047.Divided by layers,anterior120μm,centralfrom120μm to last60μm,posteriorlast60μmlayerswerehigherinKC groupP<.001.Anteriorlayerdisplayed highest densitometry value.Corneadensitometryofanterior0-2mm positivelycorrelatedwith simulated Kvalue r=0.375,negatively correlatedwithcentralcorneathicknessr=-0.202inKC.

Conclusion:Keratoconuspatientshavesignificantlyhigher cornealdensitometryvaluesinanteriorcentral(0-2mm).
