FP372 : Releasable Suture Technique – A Newer Approach for Pterygium Excision with Conjunctival Autograft

AIM:To evaluate efficacy of newer Releasable suture technique(RST) for Pterygium excision with conjunctival autograft.

METHODS:Retrospective review of records of 150 patients with primary pterygium who underwent pterygium excision by RST in last 1 year was done.Surgical duration noted.Suture released on first post-operative day.Outcome studied were patient comfort,graft apposition,complications and recurrence.

RESULTS:Mean age of patients was 39.65 ± 11.85 years.58.7% were females.60% pterygium were of Grade 2.Mean surgical time was 4.84±1.34 minutes.No complications occurred with nil recurrence.

CONCLUSION: RST offers simple alternative that combines gold standard technique of conjunctival autograft with exclusion of suture related complications .
