FP1776 : A Drop in Visual Acuity Following Intravitreal Ozurdex Injection: Finding the Hidden Pirate

66 years old male presented with diminution of vision in the left eye since 4 months. His best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 2/60 in the left eye. Rest anterior segment examination in the left eye was within normal limits .On Fundus examination macular edema was noted. Optical coherence tomography confirmed the presence of cystoid macular edema associated with lamellar macular hole with epiretinal membrane. He was offered intravitreal dexamethasone injection.

Following one month post injection, vision dropped to finger counting at half metre and fundus examination revealed a full thickness macular hole. Pars plana vitrectomy with ILM peeling and C3F8 gas tamponade was carried out retaining the Ozurdex insitu . Post- operative period was uneventful and patient is maintaining BCVA 6/36. Visual outcomes along with OCT findings at every step of follow- up will be discussed in detail.
