ABSTRACT : Purpose: To determine the correlation between central corneal thickness (CCT) and diabetes with respect to duration and glycemic index .

Material and Methods: A Hospital based, Case-Control study was conducted in a tertiary eye care centre with sample size of 200 patients, 100 diabetics and100 non-diabetics were studied by age-stratified random sampling procedure . Diabetes was defined as having non fasting glucose levels of 200 mg/dl (11.1 mmol/l) or a self-report of diabetic medication or physician diagnosis of diabetes .After complete medical history, detailed local and systemic examination was done.An anterior segement OCT,radial scan was used to measure the CCT.Non fasting serum glucose and glycosylated haemoglobin (Hb A1C) were obtained from all participants.

Statistics- Data was analysed using SPSS 16.Comparison between the different parameters was done using student t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient and Chi-square test.p-value<0.05 was considered significant.95% confidence limit was used.
